SH 8 Lindis Pass

The actual pass crosses a saddle between the valleys of the Lindis and Ahuriri Rivers at an altitude of 971 metres above sea level, thus linking the Mackenzie Basin and Canterbury with Central Otago and the Southern Lakes.

Snow tussock grassland dominates the landscape with the highway adjacent to the Lindis Conservation Area, and both can host very spectacular light and sunsets.
